Let’s look at 2 meals with the same caloric count of 580 and compare weight loss potential;
Meal #1 -a chicken (free-range, grass fed, pan fried in coconut oil, sea salt & pepper) and avocado salad, topped with all the veggies; lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, and cucumber, includes sesame and
sunflower seeds, topped with sauerkraut and dressed with a simple but tasty olive oil, apple cider vinegar, tamari and cilantro herb vinaigrette.
BIG Body Benefits
Vitamins A, B, C, E & K
High in potassium (balances potassium to sodium ratio)
Fibre & complete protein
Carotenoids & antioxidants
Essential fats -Omega3 & 6 (balance of approx. 1:1)
Easily absorbable calcium, magnesium, iron & zinc source
Many important trace elements necessary for good health
Improved insulin regulation
Beneficial bacteria for digestive aid & immune health
Balanced blood sugar
Aid in fat breakdown which promotes fat usage not storage
Cholesterol balancing properties & heart protection
Just to list a few…
The fats here will help keep you full, not to mention they taste great and they have a host of other properties. Coconut oil has thermogenic properties, helping you burn your existing bodily fat, while
apple cider vinegar helps you break down the fats you are consuming, promoting fat usage for energy. Fatty acids boost metabolism and control cortisol levels (a stress hormone that aids the body to store fat).
There is no sugar included in this meal, so there is nothing to bind the fats in the body together for storage. This meal will provide ample caloric energy after digestion to fuel your day’s needs.
Meal #2 -a hamburger and regular fries from your favorite burger joint!
I tried to find the benefits but I came up a little empty handed.
This is what I did find that may possibly be in that meal;
Significantly lowered amounts of Omega3
Heightened imbalance of Omega 3 to 6 ratio (approx. 1:20-50)
Higher saturated fat content
Mycotoxins or ecoli
Hormones & antibiotics, or disease resistant bacteria
THBQ aka E319 –causes stomach tumours & damage to DNA in rats
Genetically modified ingredients
A ton of added refined sugars
BHT –food & fuel additive, possibly linked to cancer
PDMS –anti-foaming agent added to fast foods
Weight loss or gain?
The sugar found here will act as a fat binding agent, immediately storing into cells. The types of imbalanced fatty acids in this meal will create inflammation in the body. Chemical food additive
may be stored around cells, creating weight gain and eventually leading to apoptosis (cell death). This meal will require much of your body’s reserves of energy just to break it down. By the time it is digested the body will have no leftover energy to fuel your activities.
So when I discuss the idea of discarding superfluous calorie counting, I ask that you consider replacing it with real food. The food that was grown and raised naturally on this earth as it was meant to be.
Eating amazing food will lead you to an amazing body each and every time.
